Welcome to the Year 4 class page, where we are excited to share the wonderful journey we are embarking on with your children this academic year.

It has been a pleasure to meet and work with the Year 4 students, guiding them towards academic excellence and personal growth. This page serves as a platform to showcase the children’s achievements and provide essential information. This page gets updated regularly so please keep checking.
Useful Information
Communication: For any queries or concerns, please feel free to contact staff through Class Dojo. Open communication between parents and teachers is crucial for the children’s progress and well-being. We also keep our class story updated with photos and messages.
Homework: Homework is handed out on a Friday. Please can this be completed in your child’s Learning Log.
There will be times tables, spelling and reading activities. These must be completed by the following Friday.
Behaviour Standards: Our classroom ethos rests on three fundamental principles: READY, RESPECTFUL, and SAFE. Consistent adherence to these rules will be acknowledged through recognition awards.
Times Tables: At the end of the summer term, Year 4 students will undergo a times table check. Proficiency in times tables up to 12 is instrumental in enhancing their mathematical skills. Access to Times table Rockstar’s has been provided for daily practice, aiding in the development of their multiplication proficiency.
PE Information
Year 4 have PE on Monday afternoon. Please come to school in the correct PE kit:
- White T-shirt (with or without the school logo)
- Black shorts/ tracksuit bottoms
- Black PE pumps or black trainers
- Earrings removed
Swimming Information
Year 4 go swimming every Tuesday morning. Please be in school on time to register and arrive promptly at the venue.
Please ensure your child brings:
- a towel
- swimming costume (one piece)/ tight trunks
- swimming hat if applicable
- a change of underwear
- a bag

Our Gospel Value this half term is Faith. What is Faith? How can you show Faith everyday? We will learn more about Faith this half term.
Bench Ball
We had been practising our throwing and catching skills, recently. Mr Lofthouse came in and introduced us to the game of bench ball. We loved it! He invited us to a competition with local schools. Teachers from other schools had praised us for our kindness and how helpful we were. To end the day, we had received BRONZE MEDALS!

St Joseph’s Day
On St Joseph’s Day, we had a whole school mass on St Joseph. We thought about what we can ask St Joseph to do and who he can look after. We put these thoughts into prayers. After lunch, the ice cream man arrived and we all enjoyed delicious ice cream!

CAFOD Workshop
We were very lucky as CAFOD decided to come to our school and share ways we help people around the world. We looked at different scenarios and matched them to the help the people received. We all worked together and improved our knowledge on how CAFOD help people.

World Book Day
We dressed up in our pyjamas and brought in our favourite bed time stories. Some of us created a “Book in a Box”. They looked AMAZING! Year 4 wondered up to KS1 and EYFS and shared stories with children in Reception.

Christmas Carol Concert
We loved singing and performing for our Christmas Carol Concert. We performed multiple Nativity scenes and joined together in song to welcome baby Jesus. Parents came and watched our performance. They loved it! Well done Year 4.
Art
Year 4 have been very busy working with watercolour during our Art lessons. We have focused on enlarging and magnifying parts of flowers. This has allowed us to overpaint sections to give definition.

DT
During our DT lessons, we have been applying our knowledge of what makes some food unhealthy. This has helped us attempt to make our own, healthier, version. We thoroughly enjoyed making pizza. They tasted GREAT!
