Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

‘Love one another as I have loved you’ John 13:34

Public bodies, including local authority maintained schools and multi academy trusts, are covered by the Public Sector Equality Duty in the Equality Act 2010 and the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011.

At St. Joseph’s, we take this obligation very seriously and ensure that all our pupils can take part as fully as possible in every aspect of school life.

We strive to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

For information about how our school is complying with the Public Sector Equality Duty, please refer to our Equality and Diversity Policy.

Throughout the academic year, we use monitoring information gathered to identify gaps or potential issues for pupils in relation to the protected characteristics. We have created Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Case Studies that allow us to learn from all experiences and to prevent any future incidents.
